Frequently Asked Questions

  • The first session is called an intake evaluation. During this appointment, we’ll talk through what brings you to therapy and gather relevant background information, including your mental health and medical history, any previous therapy experiences, and current concerns. This helps me better understand your needs and begin identifying how we can best work together. By the end of the intake, we’ll discuss initial impressions and outline a starting point for your sessions.

Following the intake, sessions are typically scheduled on a weekly basis, which helps build momentum and support meaningful progress toward your goals. Over time, some clients choose to shift to bi-weekly sessions depending on their needs, goals, and how they’re feeling.

I deeply value your input and will regularly check in with you to make sure therapy is feeling helpful and aligned with what you’re hoping to gain. Your feedback is an important part of the process, and we’ll work together to make adjustments as needed.

  • I am currently in-network with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Healthcare.

If I am not in-network with your plan, the self-pay rate is $140/session.

Please note that some insurance plans may offer reimbursement for out-of-network services. I can provide a superbill (a detailed invoice that contains information about the provider, the client, and service provided), for you to submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement. It is helpful to inquire with your specific plan about your behavioral health benefits. See below:

    • Do I have a policy that has out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health therapy?

    • What is my out-of-network deductible? (the amount you pay for services before your health insurance begins to pay)

    • How much of my out of network deductible has been met?

    • What percentage of the service will be covered once I’ve met my deductible? (Usually a percentage, such as 80%)

    • What is the reimbursement for service code 90837 (60 min session)?

    • What is the process for submitting for reimbursement?

Payment is accepted in the form of credit card or HSA/FSA cards at time of service and is processed via the HIPAA compliant client portal.

  • At this time, sessions are conducted fully remote via a HIPAA compliant video platform.

Due to state licensure requirements, I am currently only able to provide therapy to those residing in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

  • Barring an emergency, I kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice if you cannot attend your scheduled appointment. Appointments that are canceled or missed without at least 24 hours notice will be subject to a $75.00 fee.

This policy is in place because a time commitment is made specifically for you and is held exclusively for your session.

Please note, if more than 30 days pass without a scheduled appointment, and no other arrangements have been made, I will consider our professional relationship inactive, in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines. You are always welcome to reach out in the future when your schedule allows for consistent attendance.

  • Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your mental health care will cost.

A Good Faith Estimate outlines the expected costs of therapy services for clients who are not using insurance (self-pay). As a provider, I’m required to provide you with this estimate in writing before your services begin or upon request.

    The estimate will include:

    • The type of services you’re scheduled for (e.g., individual therapy)

    • The cost per session

    • A projected number of sessions or a timeframe, based on what we currently know about your needs

This is not a bill—rather, it’s meant to help you anticipate the potential cost of care. Your actual treatment plan may evolve over time, and you can discuss any changes in frequency or duration of services as needed.

If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above the Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute it through a process outlined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

For more information or to learn about dispute options, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

  • In the event of an emergency or crisis, please call 911 or proceed to your nearest emergency room.
